Blog Assignment #1

My topic for the research paper is Rosalind Franklin and the controversy of Photo 51. Rosalind Franklin was an expert x-ray cryptographer. Franklin was involved with the discovery of the structure of DNA. Whether or not Franklin was truly responsible for its discovery or her colleagues is the controversy. Her colleagues that were working under her took the Nobel Prize for its discovery, of course this was after her death [You must be living to receive a Nobel Prize].

Two of My Sources:

My first source comes from an encyclopedia of Women in World History: A biographical Encyclopedia. This was written by Stewart, H. A in 2002. I found it in the Gale Virtual Library Resource. This source is simply a small overview of Franklin. This source also touches on the controversy of Photo 51. Its statement about Photo 51 is more factual less than taking a stance. I like this source because it helps me understand her life time line. With so much information out there, this piece is helpful in showing the key moments. It will give me support in writing about her early life. I choose this source because it reminds me of a more trustworthy Wikipedia entry.
